ICT LITERACY RESOURCES

======================================

http://www.nheon.org/ictliteracy/

More resources to help NH schools with their ICT Literacy Programs have been added to NHEON. Visit http://www.nheon.org/ictliteracy/ and scroll down the page to the Case Studies and Sample Student Portfolios links. These materials were created by NH educators from all parts of the state who attended the ICT Summer Institute 2006. Six teams worked face-to-face for 3 days and then online for another 3 weeks to gain a better understanding of our state’s new ICT Literacy Program Standards, to share their knowledge and ideas about making ICT program improvements, and to create the resources posted on this site.

Case Studies can help districts think about steps to take to improve on their existing computer literacy and/or media literacy programs to more closely align to the new Ed 306.42 ICT Literacy Program Standards. Included in each case study are suggested assessment rubrics.

Sample Student Portfolios provide examples of how student work might be organized and displayed.

Special thanks to all institute participants for their hard work in created materials to share with all NH educators! (Each case study lists the participants who helped create the case.)

This effort was a continuation of several ICT technical assistance workshops that were held in Spring 2006 at all six Local Educational Support Centers. Additional sessions to be held online and at Support Center sites for this fall and winter are in the planning stages with dates, times, and locations TBA.

NCLB TITLE IID ED TECH FUNDS REPORTING

======================================

www.nheon.org/oet/nclb

If you are the project manager and/or tech coordinator for a current Title IID grant project, please check your grant balance and be sure to spend, spend, spend that money! Not only do you need to spend it, but you need to be sure that your business office has reported obligations and disbursements promptly using the NHDOE OBM Form 3 and Form 4 reports. If funds are not reported promptly, districts can risk the loss of those funds by not reporting in a timely manner. The Department has to also report expenditures with the federal system, so we depend on receiving your reports each quarter. If you have any questions about your grants, feel free to email me (and include the project number) at chiggins@ed.state.nh.us.

Regards,

Cathy Higgins

About ET News

ET News is sent from the Office of Educational Technology at the New Hampshire Department of Education. ET News serves as a primary e-mail communication tool about technology matters pertinent to NH educators. Current and previous issues are posted on the web at www.nheon.org/oet/etnews and include information about:

·         NHDOE technology surveys and technology planning

·         Federal technology funding and E-rate discounts

·         Research studies, curriculum information, and professional development related to technology implementation

Requests from service providers to disseminate information about their technology products and services using the electronic newsletter ET News can no longer be accommodated due to workload priorities in OET. Providers are referred to the Reports and Statistics section of the NHDOE website, where several data reports are available in various formats, including School and SAU Information with names, phone numbers, and addresses, Student Dropout Data, and more. Go to the Reports and Statistics area of the NHDOE website at: www.ed.state.nh.us
