====================================== ICT PORTFOLIO SOLUTIONS ======================================
Here it is! This is what many of you have been waiting for!
DESCRIPTION: The Local Educational Support Center Network, in collaboration with the NH Department of Education, will host two information sessions on Digital Portfolio Solutions to meet the new ICT Literacy Standards (Ed 306.42). The session will include an overview of the standards, followed by demonstrations of an Adobe Acrobat solution and a Moodle Portfolio solution. All NH educators involved in K-12 digital portfolio work are encouraged to attend to explore how these solutions might fit district needs.
The agenda for these sessions is as follows: · History / Overview of ICT Literacy Standards – Cathy Higgins, NH Department of Education · Adobe Acrobat Solutions – Paula Churchill, NCES Professional Development Center · Moodle Portfolio Solution – Rick Chretien, Seacoast Professional Development Center · General Discussion
WHEN: Monday, December 11, 2006 from 9AM to 12Noon OR Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 12:30PM to 3:30PM
WHERE: These sessions will be held simultaneously at all Center sites* and broadcast via videoconference. Please register by contacting any of the Local Educational Support Center sites listed at www.nheon.org/centers.
*Note that the Tuesday session will NOT be available at the GMPDC site in Manchester. To register for the Tuesday session, you need to contact one of the other centers.

====================================== FREE ADOBE SOFTWARE ====================================== www.thinkquest.org/adobe/grant.shtml Spread the word! There is FREE Adobe software available to anyone who wants to participate in the ThinkQuest Program. Adobe Corporation has generously made some of their leading software available for anyone wanting to use it to create ThinkQuest competition website entries. The offer includes Dreamweaver 8.0, Flash Basic 8.0, Premiere Elements 2.0 and Photoshop Elements 4.0. This software grant is intended to help anyone who might want to participate in ThinkQuest, but lacks the necessary tools.

On December 4, 2006 the University of New Hampshire's Crimes against Children Research Center will host an important forum on Partnering for a Child-Safe Internet, featuring a conversation about how to create and preserve a safe and healthy Internet environment for New Hampshire youth. ====================================== NCLB Title IID BASIC COMPETITIVE GRANTS ======================================
A total of 40 grant proposals for the NCLB Title IID Competitive Grants were received from districts (individual and consortium grants) by the October 31st deadline. A team of 18 reviewers was assembled to review and score all 40 grants. Reviewers included technology coordinators and directors, library media specialists, administrators, teachers, and NHDOE staff. Scoring is now in the process of being completed and any follow up questions to districts will occur in the next few weeks. The target date for announcing the awards is December 15th.
